The fable of the bundle of sticks is meant to show that unity is strength, and that it is much more difficult to break a bundle of sticks tightly woven together than it is to break a single stick. The London Corresponding Society is the focus of many of our political tokens, as it was the pre-eminent organizations active at the time advocating for political reform. Founded in 1792, they believed in the need for government by the people. Many of its members were imprisoned for acts of treason as a result.
