Obv: View of building, ROYAL EXCHANGE ERECTD. 1669 around. Rev: Shield of arms, LONDON PROMISSORY PENNY TOKEN around. Edge: Plain.
PCGS MS64BN. Choice brown. Extremely Rare (RRR).
The extremely rare variety of the Royal Exchange Kempson token with the PROMISSORY reverse. Very rarely offered. The Royal Exchange was named by Queen Elizabeth. Destroyed by the Great Fire, it was rebuilt in 1669. It was destroyed again by fire in the late 1830’s and rebuilt again and opened in 1844. That structure still stands today.
