This church was formerly known as St. Swithin’s London Stone, as there used to be an iron cage housing the London Stone there. The London Stone is currently in a stone casing and viewable at 111 Cannon street, London. The original structure burnt in the Great Fire of 1666 and was rebuilt. The bombing blitz during WWII burnt out the interior, but the walls remained. However, that damage was too great and it was demolished in 1962.
