A difficult token to find in high grade, and hard to imagine it much better than this example. Joseph Clarke was a hatter and hosier in the Market Place, Norwich. The large fur muffs were introduced to England in the sixteenth century, the tippet (boa) much later. His wife was also involved in the clothing business, making mantuas, an early type of women’s dress.
