Obv: A market cross with figure of Justice atop, IPSWICH CROSS around, 1794 in exergue. Rev: PAYABLE AT CONDER’S DRAPERY WAREHOUSE IPSWICH in six lines of text. Edge: Milled.

PCGS MS65RB. Near gem. Fully lustrous with much original color. Sharply struck.

A must have for any ‘Conder’ collector. This one has been in private hands for many years and is a splendid example. Fantastic eye appeal. James Conder was a linen draper and an avid collector of tokens. He was the author of the book on the series until Atkins’ book came along in 1892. This is why many Americans refer to our tokens as ‘Conder’ tokens. (Commercial Coins 1787-1804, R.C. Bell)
