Obv: Shield of arms, 1794 below, W. TILL, WINE & SPIRIT MERCHANT around. Rev: A lion rampant, RED LION INN below, HALFPENNY TOKEN. SLOUGH, BUCKS around. Edge: Plain.
Uncirculated. Bronzed proof. Scarce. 10g. 28.6mm.
This small series of Slough tokens were most likely struck around 1840 and fraudulently dated 1794 to sell to collectors. Probably issued by W. Till, a wine and spirit merchant at the Red Lion Inn. Beautiful and desirable, nonetheless.
