Obv: A wheatsheaf, PEACE PLENTY & LIBERTY around. Rev: Fat man at table eating, ENGLISH SLAVERY above. Edge: Plain.
Uncirculated. Red & brown. Proof-like with some mint lustre remaining. Rare.
The ‘fat man’ die of Spence featured on the Middlesex D&H 760 is here muled with the obverse of David Hood’s halfpenny, Cambridgeshire D&H 19. An interesting note: the letter ‘D’ that appears upon the flagon is also seen on the flagon on the Surrey D&H 11, showing George Cook. The ‘D’ stands for Denton, who had these dies made.
