Obv: Bust to left, with FRANGAS NON FLECTES on a ribbon under, D.I. EATON THREE TIMES ACQUITTED OF SEDITION around. Rev: A cock crowing over pigs in a sty, PRINTER TO THE MAJESTY OF THE PEOPLE, 1795 around. Edge: Milled.

NGC MS63RB. Much original color remains. In early die state without the die flaw on the lower obverse.

Daniel Isaac Eaton was tried seven times for sedition or libelous works, most notably for publishing Thomas Paine’s works and Thomas Spence’s ‘Hog’s Meat & c.”. His business on Newgate street he called, “The Cock and Swine”, which can be seen described pictorially on the reverse. He was a prominent member of the London Corresponding Society.
