Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Mrs. Newsham was an albino woman who married an Englishman and had six children. Because of her appearance, which at the time was considered remarkable, she was exhibited to the public to attract interest to the exhibitor, in this case, Mr. Hall. His house of curiosities also featured Mr. Jeffery Dunstan, the dwarf wig seller who was a well-known London personality at the time.
