Obv: Bust facing left, RICHARD GREENE COLLECTOR OF THE LICHFIELD MUSEUM DIED JUNE 4 1793 AGED 77 around. Rev: Antique door and porch, WEST PORCH OF LICHFIELD CATHEDRAL around, 1800 in exergue. Edge: PENNY TOKEN PAYABLE BY RICHARD WRIGHT LICHFIELD (raised lettering).

Uncirculated and Bronzed. Choice. Penny. Listed as RR, but 72 struck. Ex. Deane.

The private token struck for Richard Wright, a numismatist who also owned a museum formerly owned by Richard Greene. Greene was an apothecary and a surgeon who founded his museum from his own personal collection of antiquities. The doorway on the reverse is from the west porch of the Lichfield cathedral, which still stands.
