Obv: An officer standing, distant view of a camp, BRIGHTON. (above). Rev: View of Bastille, HALFPENNY above. Edge: Plain.
Uncirculated but with small corrosion spot at 2 o’clock on obverse and reverse stain at 9 o'clock.
The reverse is said by Spence to show the storming of the Bastille in France, although it shows British troops and a building very unlike the prison destroyed by the mob in Paris. James, the diesinker, was a close friend of Spence.
