Obv: A figure of Justice seated, holding a pair of scales, MEDALS & PROVINCIAL COINS around, DEA PECUNIA in exergue. Rev: A coining press, LUTWYCHES MANUFACTORY around, BIRMINGHAM in exergue. Edge: Milled.

Extremely Fine. Small obverse spot. Tad red.

Moneta, the Goddess of Money, is pictured on the obverse of Lutwyche’s Private token. The beautiful die engraving is by Ponthon. We can probably excuse the misspelling of ‘Engraveing’, due to the fact that Ponthon was from France. The coining press on the reverse gives an accurate depiction of how tokens and medals were made before the steam press. Lutwyche was one of the largest producers of Conders.
